Several members of the Boy’s Track Team will be headed to the state track meet next week. The boy’s team competed at sectionals this past weekend at Greater Atlanta Christian in Atlanta. The following team members advanced to the state competition: Taeler Teems – shot put, Isaiah Foster – triple jump, Jadarius Price – 110m hurdles, Zavian Underwood – 300m hurdles . Both boy’s relay teams made the cut to head to state as well. The 4×100 relay team made up of Zavian Underwood, Cam Perry, Isaiah Foster, and Isaac Foster will compete at state. The 4×400 relay team made up of Zavian Underwood, Cam Perry, Travell Bankston, and Isaac Foster will also compete at state. The state meet will be held on May 12-14 at Jefferson High School in Jefferson, GA.
CHS Alumni and NFL player Senorise Perry showed up at the meet to cheer on the team and give advice to some of the competitors. The team was encouraged by his presence and his motivation. Perry put a statement on his personal Facebook page congratulating the team. His post stated, “This past weekend I had a great opportunity to attend the sectional track meet at Greater Atlanta Christian and watch a group compete for an opportunity to compete for a chance at the State Championships. The passion I saw in their eyes to get ready and compete was a fire that has since stuck with me since returning back to Chicago. They thrive off opportunity, being from a small county like Chattooga they need a support system whoever it may be, just give them a chance to feel hope. Let them know that Dreams come true in all forms with just some belief and never let others perceive how their future is going to be. Good luck at state Chattooga Track Team, Proud Alumni!”
Congratulations and good luck Indians!
