Sophomore Hamp Thomas recently traveled to Orlando, FL to spend time at the American Farm Bureau Conference. Hamp was selected to attend the conference through his involvement in Georgia 4H and FFA. He is one of 20, 4-H and FFA students from across the state of Georgia that was selected to attend.

During his visit he attended communication classes, leadership workshops and had the chance to network with adults from across America.  One person of influence he had the opportunity to meet was Ms. Barbara Corcorm from the hit show ‘Shark Tank. Hamp also was able to have lunch with Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black.

Another exciting aspect of his trip was his chance to represent Mr. Zippy Duvall, current AFBF President, as he campaigned for another term as president of American Farm Bureau.  Hamp also was able to watch the Young Farmer and Rancher finals which is an agriculture competition to solve problems on modern agriculture laws passed that effect agriculture. Hamp was also interviewed about his experiences at the convention and his involvement with 4H and FFA by Rural Farm Development Tv. As an added bonus to the trip the students were taken to Downtown Disney to visit the park during their stay.

Thomas stated, “It was an honor to be chosen to attend this event. I had a jam packed weekend full of fun and interesting experiences that helped me build my resume and my leadership skills.”
